Missed tonight's Cavuto? Catch "The Deal" right here on FOXBusiness.com
After the handshake between these guys...
Who'll be shaking the hand of "this" guy?
For my money, that's the money shot.
Because that's the guy who'll control the money, period.
Here's the deal:
Let it be Paul.
As in Volcker.
Paul Volcker.
I'm not taking anything away from any other candidate mentioned, they just can't hold a candle to the former Treasury Secretary, who for my money, is above all others mentioned.
Here's why:
He's the best known.
He's the most respected.
He's the most well-known inflation fighter on earth.
Respected like no other on earth.
He's not only his own man.
He speaks his own mind.
Without filters.
But with plenty of heft.
Appointed by Jimmy Carter to shake things up.
He did in Jimmy Carter because he did shake things up.
His medicine is tough.
His bluntness tougher still.
In an age that demands quick fixes, he is quick to say we're in a fix and there are no quick fixes.
I'm telling 'ya...He's the guy.
The question isn't whether this 82-year-old icon is up to the job.
I wonder whether he even wants it.
But if Barack Obama wants instant credibility with a financial community that demands it.
I cannot imagine many, any, who set a higher bar for it.
Selecting Paul Volcker tells the world you ain't messing around.
And you're not playing it safe.
Selecting anyone else, fairly or not, hints you'd consider messing around.
And you're reverting politically to very much playing it safe.
It is safe to go to a former treasury secretary or a New York fed type...I can easily see either shaking Hank Paulson's hands and looking fine.
With Paul Volcker I can see him shaking the world "as" he's shaking those hands.
