Novell Posts Loss on One-Time Charges

Novell Inc. (NOVL) on Thursday reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss of $255.7 million, or 74 cents a share, due primarily to one-time charges.

Without those charges, the IT management software firm earned 11 cents a share. A year ago, Novell lost $16.3 million, or 5 cents a share.

Revenue fell to $215.6 million from $244.7 million last year.

Analysts, who tend to ignore one-time charges, had predicted quarterly earnings of 8 cents a share on revenue of $216 million.
