Market Winners & Losers: Eastman Kodak, American Capital

The markets finished up their best week of the year with an average gain of 0.6% on Friday. The financials did most of the heavy-lifting during the session after Citi’s chairman said the bank wouldn’t need any more government aid.

Here are Friday’s winners and losers:

Winners

Eastman Kodak Co.(EK)
Eastman Kodak was the biggest gainer Friday, despite the belief that it’s at risk of defaulting. The stock rose 28.8%, or 80 cents, to close at $3.58 a share.

General Motors Corp. (GM)
The stock posted a 24.8% jump Friday, still cheering the fact that it won’t need $2 billion in additional government money. GM’s gains helped propel the Dow to the upside for the fourth day in a row. GM shares finished the session at $2.72, a gain of 54 cents.

American International Group Inc. (AIG)
It was a good day for the troubled insurer. Shares moved up by 22%, or 9 cents, on Friday to close at 50 cents a piece.

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. (HIG)
Another insurance company following the sector trend to the upside, HIG closed 14.5%, or 89 cents, higher at $7.04 a share.

Jabil Circuit Inc. (JBL)
JBL continued its climb from yearly lows, rising 13.8% on Friday. The stock closed at $4.03, a gain of 49 cents.

Losers

American Capital Ltd. (ACAS)
The stock capped the last day of the week below the $1.00 mark, falling 10.9%, or 12 cents, to close at 98 cents.

National Semiconductor Corp. (NSM)
NSM is still hurting from its downgrade on Thursday, dropping another 8.8% on Friday. The stock closed the session at $10.05, down 97 cents.

ProLogis (PLD)
PLD, like most of the REITs, failed to have a good week following the release of some less-than-stellar housing numbers. The stock lost 8.3% to close at $6.94, a loss of 63 cents.

Huntington Bancshares Inc. (HBAN)
The regional took a slight fall to end the week, though an afterhours Fitch rating change could help the stock in the near future. Shares closed at $1.56, a loss of 12 cents, or 7.1%.

NASDAQ OMX Group Inc. (NDAQ)
NDAQ’s volatile trading continued Friday, but shares ended the day lower. The stock fell 6.9% , or $1.66, to close at $22.27 a share.
